Created for Purpose (or CFP as we call it) is an open enrollment program designed specifically to enrich local churches (your church) by serving individuals in local churches (your church). High school students, ages 14-17, are invited to apply for CFP. Your journey begins once you begin praying about applying!
Once you apply and are accepted, you (students) will join us for a two week wilderness and service expedition in the rugged and beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. The expedition begins in Boone- the very heart of the NC High Country. You will meet your group and start the journey with a backpacking section through the beautiful Pisgah National Forest. During your 10 day backpacking route, you will take a break from your fully loaded pack to experience 2 days of some of the best rock climbing in the Southeastern US. After 12 days of remote and primitive living, you will then engage in 2 full days of service as missions here in western NC. 10 days of backpacking, 2 days of rock climbing, and 2 days of missions work later and the wilderness expedition component of your CFP journey is completed. In 14 days you will have had the adventure of a lifetime... and this is only the beginning for you.
Upon completion of your expedition, you will return home (and to your home church) where your mentor will be primed and ready to invest in you personally over the next 11 months.
Students will have to be sponsored by their mentor, an adult from the student's home church. We aren't looking for the mentoring rock stars (though we aren't excluding them either). One objective of this program is to give tools to new mentors that equip them to be able to, going forward, invest in students with confidence and effectiveness.
